There will also be opportunities to take part in professional performances in our marvellous Mane Hall. Pick up the family programming schedule at our welcome center for the full list of programming for kids of all ages. There is no specific (18+) programming at Ponycon although some literary panels may cover challenging topics.
Q: What are Ponycon's guidelines for costume props?
A: Given the recent incidents of terrorism around the world, we have decided that any gun or costume weapon resembling a gun is not welcome at Ponycon. A toy gun can be mistaken for real and cause panic in a crowd. Real weapons are prohibited in the venue and all convention areas. All costume weapons should be props in design and may not be able to be used as a genuine weapon. All cosplay weapons need to be inspected at registration for approval. Simulated or costume weapons such as costume swords are allowed as a part of your cosplay, subject to approval by security and compliance with the following:
-Prop weapons made of metal (blunt or sharp) are prohibited.
-Any sword or knife must be cardboard or flexible plastic and no pose a danger of puncture or cut wound to humans.
-No projectile weapons will be allowed.
If you still have questions you may send detailed photos of the costume weapon to Daniel@ponycon.nyc for further consideration. There will be no storage check for unpermitted items. If you are unsure about the item, it may be best to not bring it. If you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume weapons to Ponycon.
